Explanation
Distance is the space between two points, objects, or people. For example, the distance between your house and school might be two kilometers. It can be measured in meters, miles, or kilometers. Distance is not only physical but can also be emotional: if people are not close in feelings, we say there is emotional distance. On maps, distance helps us understand how far places are. In sports, athletes often compete in long-distance running. As a verb, to distance means to create space or separation, like “He distanced himself from the argument”.
